Novi Sad – The Association of Roma Students from Novi Sad, within the advocacy component of the Roma Health Scholarship Program, organized the Advocacy School SASTO 5 (9-12 August 2016) in the Centre for Economic and Technological Development at Andrevlje.
A group of 27 Roma students of medicine from the faculties in Novi Sad, Niš and Belgrade gathered this year.
The SASTO 5 Program was designed to train the future Roma medical staff to assume an active role in the Roma health promotion. The educational aspect was particularly accented with the aim at preparing the future health workers to be ready to take part in the sphere of work and health system.
Some of the involved topics were: Roma language and medicine, how to present oneself better in a CV, motivational letter and job interview, the Roma health in the light of the latest studies, the current Roma-related programs of the Ministry of Health.
The Roma Health Scholarship Program has been conducted in Serbia since 2010 as a joint initiative of the Fund for an Open Society and the Roma Education Fund.
